Arlo Sanders

Actor, improviser, musician, director, & technician
1/2 of Made Up Music

Arlo Sanders (he/him/his) spent his childhood in Long Beach, California, and moved to Seattle, Washington when he was eleven years old. In Seattle he began his journey as a performer at the age of 18 working as a professional stand up comedian. In the Seattle comedy scene Arlo was part of a transformative alternative comedy movement and was a featured performer at the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival as well as the Sasquatch Music Festival. Arlo’s love for performance eventually led him to sketch and improv. He has studied at UCB, Groundlings, Second City Hollywood, and Impro Theatre. Arlo attributes improvisation to the way he approaches everything in life. Having an attitude of collaboration and acceptance, as well as wanting the people around him to succeed. At Impro Theatre, Arlo fell in love with technical improvisation. This is the art of improvising lights, sound effects, and music while a group of performers is on stage improvising a play. In 2019 Arlo directed the world premiere of Wigfield, a comedy that was adapted by Pam Eberhardt from the book written by Amy Sedaris, Paul Dinello, and Stephen Colbert (with their permission). Arlo also did all of the lighting design, as well as ran the light and sound board for each performance. Recently, Arlo has been producing short comedic films with his production ensemble, Kid Cactus. Their films have been screened at Hollyshorts, the London Comedy Film Festival, the Chicago Comedy Film Festival, the Portland Comedy Film Festival, and the Austin Comedy Film Festival. The marriage of creativity and technology is what makes Arlo unique. Improvisation has taught him to “say yes” to everything, and go from there. He is a creative problem solver, and always looking to help anyone in any way that he can.
