Improvised Film & Television
In the fall of 2018, the Ripleys shot and produced the fully-improvised television series “As We Go Along”, which we are now submitting to festivals for 2020. The “As We Go Along” trailer is above!
In our improvised film and television projects, the Ripleys act as both actors and writers, creating the characters and story in the moment. The camera improvises right alongside us, following the action and emotion of the scene.
Scripted Content
The Ripleys have a number of pilots, shorts, and features that are ready for production. In fact, the Ripley Film division of our company is currently in pre-production for a feature, “The Feelers”, set to shoot in 2020.
If you are interested in learning more about our scripted content (pitches, loglines, treatments), please contact us to set up a meeting.
Devised Scripts
The Ripleys have devised four features (two treatments and two scripts) ready for production.
Our process begins with anything from a concept to an outline. One Ripley leads a devising session where we workshop characters, dialogue, and important scenes. The writer captures and distills the information and sets off to write the screenplay.
Transcribed Shows
We’ve improvised hundreds of hour-long plays in performance and rehearsal, and some are great beginnings to excellent screenplays. First we transcribe of one of our improvised plays, then we take that transcription into devising sessions for workshopping and rewrites.
The Ripleys are currently scripting two untitled features from our improvised performances: 1. from DYSTOPIA, a young adult dystopian feature, and 2. from ENCOUNTER, a feature length film about first contact.
Stage Shows
The Ripleys have three fully-improvised stage productions: DYSTOPIA (YA dystopian), GLAM (80’s arm wrestling), and ENCOUNTER (stories of first contact).
We began as “Ripley Improv” an ensemble of women and nonbinary people who love storytelling together. The Ripleys met at The Impro Theatre School where we trained in styles like Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Anton Chekhov, Dorothy Parker, Tennessee Williams, LA Noir, Twilight Zone, Romantic Comedy, horror, and even 80s Buddy Cop!
Meet with the Ripleys!
