Ripley interviewed Teri Gamble and, well, she might just be the coolest.
What is your favorite quote?
"Better done than perfect. Or something like that…”
Tell us about your Slay character? How are they like or not like you?
“My Slay character is a delight - as a psychic she has great foresight, but that means sometimes she doesn't always have clarity on the past - which can be tough when trying to frame the future. I think I am the opposite - I tend to dwell in the past and love history - so it's fun trying to flip to be a futurist.” (Watch Teri on Ripley Improv’s show, SLAY Fridays at 6pm PT on twitch.tv/ripleyimprov).
How did your improv journey begin?
“I have always loved making up stories on the fly - since I was a kid at drama camp. I was also obsessed with SNL and sketch comedy since I was a kid. But I got into improv more seriously after I finished grad school for acting and I still wasn't landing auditions...so I started taking classes at Second City and found so much freedom in the artform. Been doing improv ever since and I meet weekly with my group Diversity Higher Comedy and happily perform whenever I can with Ripley!”
What about Ripley excites you?
“I love how giving and talented this group is! Everyone is a leader and boss in their own right and I love how empowering it is to work with this all female led collective. I didn't know how much I needed something like this - it makes me feel less alone in this historically male dominated field.”
Were you a monster-slayer fan before SLAY?
“I have been slaying monsters - or at least strategizing how to survive all kinds of monsters for a while on my podcast Horror Movie Survival Guide. We discuss a different horror movie each week and how to get out alive! We have some great guest interviews and take spoiler heavy deep dives into all things horror!”
