Normalization Efforts for Ripley
In light of the Black Lives Matter revolutionary movement, Ripley members have been taking and encouraging action to fight for justice and systemic change for Black people.
However, we know that in the fight for that justice, what we have to do, first and foremost, when challenging racial inequalities is start with ourselves and our own organization.
This week on our twitch stream, we shared our in-the-works and newly-committed efforts to make Ripley more normalized, inclusive, and equitable. Afterwards, Aliza Pearl read Chapter 1 of Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. We invite you to listen.
It should not have taken George Floyd’s death to awaken change in our country, in our artistic institutions, and in Ripley Improv specifically. But we are dedicated to ongoing action and accountability in our organization.
We will be continuing to fundraise for The Bail Project this week. Thank you to those who have already donated, supported other organizations, and taken action.
We will continue to keep you updated as we grow as a company. We will aim to be transparent in our efforts and move urgently. This is just the beginning.
